Surprise! More Pokémon games are on the way. During a live event on Sunday morning, The Pokémon Company announced two new titles: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The games are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in late 2022, and the brief teaser recalled 2019's Pokémon Sword and Shield "Making an Evolutionary Step in the Pokémon Main Series". In the image below, you can take a look at the new launchers .
Here is the official description:
Trainers can explore an open world where different cities blend seamlessly into the borderless wilderness. Pokémon can be seen everywhere in this vast open world - in the sky, in the sea, and on the streets.
As one of the main characters, Trainers will dive into the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to begin their adventure, where they will wear a different outfit depending on the game. Trainers then choose either Sprigatito the Pokémon Grass Cat, Fuecoco the Pokémon Firecroc or Quaxly the Pokémon Duck as their first partner Pokémon before embarking on their journey.
The other big news is that Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which just released earlier this year, is getting a software update called "Daybreak." It will be available for free later today and will contain a new quest to investigate. The Pokémon Company also announced that it is developing an anime series based on the game set in the Hisui region, which is slated for release later this year.
The announcement also included a major update for Pokémon Go, which will see monsters from the Alola region – which debuted in Pokémon Sun and Moon – come into play on March 1. And competitive battling game Pokémon Unite is also getting some notable new features, including new, more intense battles called Fury Battles, launching today. Players who sign up now will also receive limited-edition Pokémon Day gear to wear while playing.
